Dhātrī Kalāmandira is a centre for Indian classical dance and music, founded with the vision of passing on our artistic traditions with care and sincerity. The word Dhātrī means “nurturer,” and true to its name, the institution strives to nurture every student’s artistic and personal growth.
Based in Bengaluru, Dhātrī Kalāmandira offers regular classes, workshops, and masterclasses in Bharatanatyam, Karnatic music, Kathak, Yoga, and other classical art forms. The classes are guided by experienced teachers who focus on both technical training and understanding the deeper values behind the arts.
The institution also aims to build a community where students, parents, and teachers come together to celebrate learning. Performances, lecture-demonstrations, and cultural gatherings are an integral part of our activities, helping students gain confidence and connect with the larger artistic world.
At Dhātrī Kalāmandira, we believe that classical art is not only a form of expression but also a way to grow with grace, mindfulness, and joy.
The institution was founded by Bhuvana Prakash Mandara in 2021, and owing to growing requirements and administrative burden, Sandeep Mandara joined hands in 2025 and together they have set up a dedicated studio and a space in the heart of Rajarajeshwari Nagar in South Bengaluru to nurture the growth of the institute.
The Logo embodies the essence of Mahadevi in her nurturing form as Dhātrī. Mahadevi rises from a wave-like form, symbolizing emergence, transformation, and the rhythmic essence of life, much like classical dance itself.
Her posture, marked by a serene Hamsasya Mudra, shaped like a swan’s beak, is associated with marking the auspicious occasion of attaining knowledge imparted by the Guru. A lotus crown above her head and a vermillion 'bottu' on her forehead highlights her spiritual sovereignty. The bold use of black and vermilion in her adornments conveys strength, creativity, and devotion.
